Abstract

1351688 Adjustable chairs A R J LJUNGGREN 30 July 1971 [4 Aug 1970] 35889/71 Heading A4J [Also in Division F2] A chair with a tubular metal frame is provided with a seat 13 the front end of which rests on a front cross-bar 5 and the rear end of which is selectively located between adjacent cross-bars of a plurality of rear cross-bars 3, 5, 11 and 12. The rear cross-bars may be replaced by pairs of coaxial pegs mounted one on each of two rear legs. The seat is prevented from slipping backwards by a set screw 14 on one of the front legs 1 or by using a seat which decreases in thickness towards its rear end. A back rest support carrying a vertically adjustable back rest pad 15 is pivotally mounted on the upper end of the rear legs 2, the pad being locked in position by a clamp (19), Fig. 2, (not shown), which comprises a flat body attached to the pad and slidable between two vertical bars (18) forming part of the support and a further flat body which abuts the bars on the rearside thereof and is securable to the bars and the first flat body by a wing nut. A head rest 20 may be pivotally mounted on the upper ends of support bars 21 which project from the back rest and are vertically adjustable with respect to the back rest.
