Abstract

1,084,814. Seats. H. LUEDERS. Sept. 10, 1964 [Sept. 13, 1963], No. 37034/64. Heading A4J. A back support comprises a frame having uprights 1 provided with a series of apertures 4 in which the ends of flexible arcuate side bars 5 of a back rest 7 are engaged so that the back rest is adjustable in position along the uprights and has a forwardly arcuate shape of adjustable radii. Alternatively, the back rest may carry unlockable springs or socket members lockable by screw means which engage on the uprights and allow the position and arcuate shape of the back rest to be adjusted. The uprights may carry a seat, Fig. 1, or, as shown in Fig. 5, uprights 36 may be hinged at 37 to a main seat frame 35 which has curved ends 38 to limit thebackward movement of the uprights. As shown in Fig. 4 an adjustable frame 32 is hinged to uprights 26 to allow the back rest to be supported in any desired position.
