Abstract

1350769 Cladding for buildings MEDWAY BUILDINGS Ltd 31 Aug 1971 [2 Sept 1970] 41903/70 Heading E1W Cladding for timber buildings consists of strips of wood 1, 4 each provided with two grooves on one side positioned inwardly from the side edges to leave ribs at the edges of less width than the width of the grooves, the strips 1, 4 being placed alternately with the grooves facing respectively rearwardly and forwardly, and being overlapped such that the rearwardly facing grooves 2 of the strips 1 are engaged by the ribs 3 of the strips 4 and the forwardly facing grooves 5 of the strips 4 are engaged by the ribs 6 of the strips 1, thus providing an expansion joint including a water drain channel 7 extending vertically at each overlap. The strips 1, 4 may be of the same or (as shown) of different widths. The strips are fixed to either a sub-frame or an external wall panel of the building.
