1350394 Cabinets; furniture frames and joints E N GIGANTE 30 March 1971 8247/71 Headings A4B and A4H [Also in Division F2] A cabinet comprises a skeleton framework which includes U-section posts 8, 8A formed with spaced grooves 8B, the posts being interconnected by longitudinal beams 1 and transverse cross-beams 6, the longitudinal beams 1 having facing grooves to receive the edges of sliding doors 2, 2A, 3, 3A and each having on its inner face a central longitudinal groove 1E and spaced grooves 1F on opposite sides thereof, and the beams 1 being connected to the posts 8 by T- shaped locking elements 10 co-operating with U-shaped clamps 11, each element 10 engaging over the post 8 with its web 10B engaged in the central beam groove 1E and being held in position by the clamp 11 which has end flanges 11A slidably engaged in the spaced beam grooves 1F behind inturned flanges of the grooves 1F. Each cross-beam 6 is secured to a post 8 by fixing elements 17 having resilient inner ends 17A sprung into engagement with the interior of the post 8 and a resilient, bifurcated opposite end 17B pushed into an open end of the crossbeam 6 until tabs 17C on the end 17B snap into openings 6A in the cross-beam 6. Shelves 7A are supported on beams 16 engaged at their ends in the post grooves 8B. Panels are fitted to the top, bottom, back and sides of the framework. A sealing strip 25 may be carried at the front, side edge of the cabinet to cover the space between a cabinet side and an adjacent room wall. (For Figures see next page)
