1350104 Counting apparatus STANDARDWERK EUGEN REIS GmbH 29 Nov 1971 [1 Dec 1970] 55260/71 Heading G4D A machine for counting coins, or other discs 4, has a rotating centrifuge disc 8 whose periphery is beneath an annular ring 92 with an upstanding flange 91, the gap between the ring 92 and disc 8 being adjustable to just freely accommodate the thickness of one coin. Coins are delivered to the central space by a conveyer 7 (Fig. 2, not shown) and by centrifugal force individual coins slide beneath the ring 92 to form into a row around the outer periphery of the disc 8. A pressure roller 38 ensures that this row of coins moves at the speed of the disc into a counting channel 26 and past an inductive count detector 48; the drive is continued at the same speed by a V-belt running over pulleys 41, 42 and which engages the row of coins in channel 26. The height of ring 92 above disc 8 is adjusted through three screwdrives (Fig. 4, not shown) by a knob 11; the ring 92 carries a feeler arm 19 with a contact 20 which just contacts a sample coin 4<SP>1</SP> to light an indicator lamp 24 at the correct height. Another feeler 29 detects the width of the sample coin to adjust the width of the counting channel 26 so that smaller coins fall through an opening 25. The counter may be associated with a coin roll packing machine (Fig. 1, not shown).
