Plate apparatus. - In heatinterchange apparatus and evaporating devices for liquids, the cross-section of the vertical passages for the flow of liquid to be evaporated is enlarged in an upward direction for the purpose of providing more space for the increasing volume of vapour in the upper layers of the liquid. This end is achieved by providing the cylindrical container 1 for the liquid to be heated with a vessel for the heating medium comprising a pair of interconnected annular shells 8, 9, tapering towards their upper extremities.
