Abstract

1346201 Table lamp CARRARA & MATTA SpA 2 Aug 1971 [16 Oct 1970] 36298/71 Heading F4R A table lamp has a number of part-cylindrical side screens 10, whose internal surfaces are, at least partially, diffusively reflective, mounted for pivoting on a cylindrical base 1 to form a cylindrical lampshade which is open at the top and which has, between adjacent side screens, lateral openings of width adjustable by varying the angular position of the side screens, which side screens are so shaped and positioned that no direct light is emitted laterally through the openings, only diffused light. A stub shaft 14 projecting from the shaped lower flange 13 of each curved side screen 10 engages regularly spaced holes 4 surrounding the coaxial lampholder 5 in the base 1. The side screens 10, which may have a slit 15 formed therein, may be formed of coloured translucent plastics or opalescent material and may be linked by gearing to permit simultaneous adjustment thereof. The lamp is easily dismantled to facilitate transport and packing.
