Abstract

1346069 Transistor amplifier RANK ORGANISATION Ltd 26 Jan 1972 [27 Jan 1971] 3301/71 Heading H3T In an audio amplifier, complementary output transistors 17, 18 each have their bases connected to a junction (e.g. earth) via the collectoremitter path of a driver transistor 13, 14 complementary thereto and two parallel paths, e.g. 23, 25 and 24, 26, one of which is non- conducting for signals below a particular threshold. The networks reduce the crossover distortion and as conduction of the diodes limits the drive voltage the conventional current-limiting resistors in the output circuit to be omitted. Negative feedback may be applied from the output to the input of the amplifier to stabilize the D.C. quiescent output voltage.
