Abstract

1425925 Transistor amplifying circuits EMI Ltd 11 May 1973 [19 May 1972] 23553/72 Heading H3T An amplifier which is more particularly intended for use as a linear video amplifier comprises two pairs of transistors Q1, Q2 and Q3, Q4 respectively; each pair comprises two complementary transistors in cascade connection, the input transistors Q1, Q3 being also complementary to each other and having their inputs connected in parallel, while the output transistors Q2, Q4 also comprise a complementary pair with their outputs connected in parallel. The amplifier is driven from a preliminary stage Q5, the base biasing circuit of transistors Q1, Q3 including a variable resistor VR1 being used to adjust the relative currents in the two transistors. Variable resistor VR2 differentialy adjusts the currents in transistors Q2, Q4 while variable capacitor C1 is used to adjust the phase characteristic. The amplifier feeds into an output stage comprising complementary transistors Q7, Q6 in emitter follower connection; feedback round the amplifier is provided by lead 11.
