Abstract
1344392 Charging photo-conductive members KONISHIROKU PHOTO INDUSTRY CO Ltd 14 Jan 1972 [16 Jan 1971] 1910/72 Heading G2H [Also in Division H1] A corona discharge device for electro-photography comprising corona discharge electrodes 34 confined by plates 31, 32a, 32b on three sides so as to form a first opening 35 for charging photo-sensitive paper 1, is provided with at least one second opening 36a, b and means to control the direction of flow of ion wind so as to exhaust the wind through said second opening and prevent blowing of the wind against the photo-sensitive paper. The said means in the arrangement shown consists in locating the electrodes 34 nearer to the plate 31 than to the paper 1 so that the electric field is greater in the direction towards the openings 36a, b and providing conductive side plates 38a, b, with projections 39a, b and 40a, b, which prevent the ion wind streams A from joining the air streams B. The conductive side plates 38a, b are separated from the plates 32a, b, by insulating plates which have notches to expose parts of the plates 38a, b, to the discharge so that they acquire a potential and attract dust which is thus diverted from the discharge wires 34. In an alternative embodiment Fig. 4, (not shown) the side plates 38a, b are provided with single central proportions which may be extended Fig. 5, (not shown) and bent to form a duct containing a suction fan to assist the flow of ion wind.
