1344286 Pistons MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG AG 12 May 1971 [29 May 1970] 14552/71 Heading F2T An internal-combustion engine piston 1 has a wear insert ring 9 for the top piston ring 2 and an oil-collector groove 10 in the piston periphery 8 between the top ring groove 5 and the next ring groove 6. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown) the wear insert ring (13) is shrunk on a reduced diameter portion of the piston extending from the crown 14. The wear insert ring is preferably formed from a material having substantially the same coefficient of expansion as the piston body.
