Abstract
1343901 Combustion apparatus for blast furnace NIPPON KOKAN KK 5 April 1971 8806/71 Heading F4T A combustion process and/or apparatus for a blast furnace comprises a blow pipe 3 (Fig. 1) for combustion air hot-blast, means for causing swirling motion of the combustion air hot-blast in the blow pipe, and a fuel burner 5 supplied with fuel and communicating with the interior of the blow pipe 3, which burner has means comprising swirl vane 10 for causing swirling motion of oxygen or oxygen enriched air during passage thereof through the burner, the fuel being atomized by the air and delivered by a nozzle having a divergent portion, the crosssectional area of which initially increases uniformly, followed by a step increase at a distance of 60-90% of the whole divergent length. As shown in Fig. 2, the burner 5 comprises a central feeding pipe 9 for fuel such as heavy oil, a second feeding pipe 7 and 8 for oxygen or oxygen enriched air, and a third feeding pipe 12 and 13 for coolant. The swirling means in the blow pipe 3 may comprise a swirl vane 4 or feeding pipes 16 (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown) from a bustle pipe (15) which direct combusion air hot-blast generally tangentially into the blow pipe 3. The swirling ratio of the combusion air hot-blast and oxygen or oxygen enriched air is between 0À9 and 1À5.
