Abstract

1341224 Transistor amplifier and switching circuits; cathode-ray tube circuits SIEMENS AG 14 Jan 1971 [20 Feb 1970] 1978/71 Headings H3T and H4T [Also in Division HI] An amplifier has, in parallel with its output stage, switching transistors which apply an increased positive or negative voltage to the output when a sudden change of input signal occurs and includes unidirectionally conducting elements across the switching transistors. The Fig. shows an amplifier for feeding the deflection coils of a display system in which two or more different signals are simultaneously displayed by switching (at 42), the input between signal sources such as 40, 41. The circuit comprises a basic class B linear amplifier 2, 3, 4, 5 having input diodes 15, 16 for steering the different polarities of signals to the two halves of the amplifier. Negative feedback is provided from resistor 38 and if a sudden jump in signal level occurs on switching between the signals the current rise would be relatively slow. The initial feedback voltage would thus be low and a large net signal appears at the input. This overcomes the threshold of a switching circuit 25, 24, 17 or 28, 27, 18 connecting are larger voltage source + U 2 or -U 2 to the coils to produce a rapid change of deflection current to the new value. Diodes 19 and 20 are for decoupling and 22, 23 for protection.
