A container 1 for hot fat and cooking oil 7 is formed from a 4 methyl pentine 1 polymer. It has a lid 2 formed with a sieve 3 for collecting pieces of food from hot fat after use, and flanges 4 to provide a close fit with the vessel and 5 to provide a shallow trough above the sieve for the temporary retention of fat during pouring. A further lid 6 seals the whole vessel.
