Abstract

1,236,411. Bearings. UNITED GAS INDUSTRIES Ltd. 9 May, 1968 [9 May, 1967], No. 21556/67. Heading F2A. The mounting of a rotor 2 comprises a pair of longitudinally magnetized, annular magnets 5, 7 of substantially the same length which extend concentrically one within the other by an amount which is less than one half the length cf either one of them, the poles of the magnets being arranged such that the magnets tend to repel each other. A pintle 8 of non-magnetic stainless steel and a bearing 6 of plastics, graphite, or jewel may be included. Apintle plate to check axial displacement may be used (Fig. 3, not shown). Various ways of resiliently mounting the individual components to facilitate dismantling are described.
