Abstract
1,230,655. Cladding for buildings. WESTBRICK PLASTICS Ltd. 13 Oct., 1969 [18 Oct., 1968], No. 49450/68. Heading E1W. A cladding for buildings comprises an element having along opposite longitudinal edges, respectively forwardly and rearwardly situated flanges 114, 115 Fig. 3 which define a generally S-formation with the main part of the element so that adjacent similar elements can interlock, with the flange 115 on one element engaged between the flange 114 and the main part of the adjacent element, tfie element additionally having one or more rearwardly situated flanges 116c, 116d intermediate said edges directed towards one of the edges which as described is that edge carrying the forwardly situated flange 114. The flanges 115, 116 engage beneath hook shaped portions 20 of fixing brackets 18, Fig. 2, such a bracket also being fitted over the forwardly situated flange 114, the arrangement being such as to permit the interlocking of the flanges 114, 115 of adjacent elements with the bracket so positioned over the flange 114. The element may simulate weatherboarding Fig. 1 (not shown) or shiplays boarding as in Fig. 3, for example. Trim members Figs. 5-8 (not shown) are provided for use at edges and corners of the cladding.
