Abstract

1,229,373. Measuring pitch of gear wheels. CARL ZEISS JENA VEB. Sept. 17, 1969, No.45803/69. Heading G1N. Apparatus for measuring the pitch of a gear wheel 1 Fig. 1 comprises two feelers 8, 9 associated with inductive displacement transducers 13, 15 carried by a head movable radially and tangentially relative to the gear wheel. The feelers are moved into the gaps on either side of one tooth on a desired measuring circle 26 and the gear 1 rotated until feeler 8 is contacted, the contact pressure being determined by the signal from transducer 13. If this differs from a desired predetermined value, the difference is amplified and fed to a servomotor which rotates the gear until the difference is eliminated. The feeler 9 is spring- loaded to make contact with the adjacent tooth and the output from transducer 15 measures the pitch at the test diameter 26. The initial distance between feelers 8, 9 is adjusted by moving feeler 9 along a guide 17 and locking it by a screw 18.
