Abstract

1,228,567. Fluorescent light fitting. M. A. DUBAS, and J. B. AIZENBERG. 12 March, 1969, No. 12966/69. Heading F4R. [Also in Division H2] A fluorescent light fitting comprises at least one fluorescent lamp tube having electrodes which are heated during starting by a current surge, said lamp being supported below a channel 4 serving as trunking for the wiring by control equipment units 2, 3, 19, one at each end of each lamp tube, the control equipment units being interconnected only by the conductors of the supply mains, at least one unit containing a ballast element and each unit comprising a working element to provide starting and heating of at least one adjacent lamp electrode. At least one working element is a capacitor and at least one other working element is a filament transformer, the ballast element being a choke having a compensating winding electrically connected to the filament transformer. The channels 4 are interconnected in a multi-lamp fitting by brackets 21 and the whole fitting is either attached directly to a building structure or suspended by hangers 23. The fitting incorporates louvres 18 and diffusers when used with lamp tubes with internal reflectors, but with ordinary lamp tubes separate reflectors 17 are employed. The control equipment units clip on to the support channel 4.
