A magazine comprises strip material 1 provided with a plurality of spaced apertures or recesses each aperture or recess accommocating an unencased propellant charge 3, the strip being of substantially uniform cross-section along its length except for the apertures or recesses. A layer 5 of film material may be releasably bonded to the surfaces of the strip material, the film material being removed from the strip material on to rollers prior to the magazine being fed into a firearm (Fig. 5, not shown). Projectiles 8 which may be bullets (as shown) for military purposes or bolts or nails for industrial purposes may be connected directly to the propellant charges or separated therefrom by a web passing across the recesses (Fig. 7, not shown). The charges may be the same (Fig. 1, not shown) cross-sectional shapes as the recesses or different (Fig. 2, not shown) therefrom, the charges being held in the recesses by frictional forces. A plurality of projections and/or openings may be provided on the edge regions of the face or faces of the strip on to which the apertures or recesses open to facilitate feeding of the magazine.
