Abstract

1,227,083. Blow-moulding coated containers. AA CHEMICAL CO. Ltd. 16 June, 1969 [11 July, 1968], No. 30391/69. Heading B5A. [Also in Division B2] Containers having an internal and/or external anti-slip coating are produced by blow moulding a tubular thermoplastic parison 2 which is fed between opened blow-mould parts 3, 3<SP>1</SP>, and a second thermoplastic material is applied to the internal and/or external surfaces of the parison 2 before closing the mould parts 3, 3<SP>1</SP> to pinch off the parison and blowing to expand it against the mould. The second thermoplastic material has a lower fusing point and higher coefficient of friction than the first and may be applied either by spray-coating with fine particles 7 from nozzles 6 before blowing or by interposing a thin film 4 between the parison 2 and mould parts and blowing into contact with the mould parts 3, 3<SP>1</SP>. The tubular parison may be of high density polyethylene or polypropylene and the second material may be low-density polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, polyvinylidene chloride, ethylene/vinylacetate graft copolymer or high impact polystyrene.
