Abstract

1,223,598. Vehicle trim panels. ROOTES MOTORS Ltd. 9 April, 1969 [9 April, 196 No. 16988/68. Heading B7J. In a vehicle body a rigid or semi-rigid plastics lining panel 13 is supported on the underside of the roof 10 by peripheral supporting means or cant-rails 14 extending along each side of the roof and having ledges 15 over which flanges 18 on the panels are sprung into engagement. The panel is secured to the front and rear of the roof by screws or other fastenings. A resilient cushion 19 may fill the space between the side wall 16 and the cant-rail 14, and there may also be a resilient cushion in a recess along the front marginal part of the panel. These cushions may be bonded or adhered to the panel 13, which may be formed from any fibrous material bonded by a thermosetting or thermoplastics resin or may be formed in a rigid or semi-rigid foamed plastics material, or in foamed synthetic rubber, with or without fibrous reinforcement.
