Abstract

1,222,908. Moulding seats. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. 15 Oct., 1969, No. 50578/69. Heading B5A. [Also in Division A4] A seat comprising a resilient suspension member 2 spanning a plastics frame (1) is formed by locating edge parts of the member 2 in a mould cavity 5 defined between mould halves 4a, 4b and introducing plastics materia<SP>1</SP> into the cavity 5 to embed the edge parts therein and form a frame (1). As shown, in Fig. 2, the plastics material passes through apertures 3 in a diaphragm 2. In another mould (Fig. 11) projections 23 carried by a mould half 4b engage apertures 22 in a resilient diaphragm 19. In a further mould, Fig. 5, looped ends of webbing strips 9 are fitted with anchoring bars 11 which are held in position by projections 15, 16 on the mould halves 4a, 4b. A further mould, Fig. 8, is provided with pegs 18 around which a resilient cord 17 is looped. The frame may comprise a rigid foam plastics which may be a cast urethane which cures at 20‹ C.
