Both bars of a two bar Raschel machine, that is both needle bars 9 or both the needle bar and associated point bar are mounted on a shalt 12 capable of being rocked in timed relationship with the yarn guides such that the needles of each bar in turn are raised and move transversely across the line of needles whereafter the yarn guides lap them to feed yarn which is then knitted by the needles. Both the needle bars 9 and the associated comb bars 1, 2 are rocked, the latter being secured to a bracket 11 mounted on the shaft 12 and the needle bar being attached to a rod 28 mounted on a bearing 10 in the bracket 11 and reciprocated to impart the usual vertical movement to .the needle bar by an eccentric driven by the machine. The bracket 11 is oscillated by an eccentric engaging a tappet 14 secured to the 'bracket. Each bar end comb bar may be mounted on its own shaft 12 or they may be secured to a common central shaft 12a, Fig. 4, which is slit along its length to allow the fabric to pass through it as it is produced and taken up.
