Abstract
1,221,545. Continuous casting. BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK A.G. 4 July, 1968 [6 July, 1967], No. 31866/68. Heading B3F. [Also in Divisions C7 and F4] Inert gas (such as argon) passes from a pipe 19 through permeable bricks 17 on the bottom 16 of a tundish 6 to remove gas from molten metal 21 and to holes in a pipe 12 to blanket the metal stream passing through a sealed shroud 9 and bellows to a mould 11. Some of the gas from the pipe 12 is directed on to the metal stream and some towards the shroud 9. Argon is also passed to a shroud around the stream which passes into the tundish 6 from a ladle above it. The tundish and mould are purged with argon before casting.
