Abstract

1,219,037. Earth-working vehicles. CMI CORP. 4 June, 1969 [23 Jan., 1969], No. 28144/69. Heading B7H. Earth-working apparatus has an implement 134-for example a levelling blade optionally combined with a rotary cutter-movably fixed beneath the central portion 38 of a main frame 16 which also has end portions 78, 80 pivotally connected to central portion 38 about transverse horizontal axes, such as the axes of shafts 56, 58, and pivotally connected to mobile units 12, 14 each unit having its own drive power source. The angle of implement 134 with respect to plate 132 can be adjusted by ram 136. Plate 132 is fixed to ring 126 rotatably carried by sub-frame 110 pivotally connected at 112 and 116 to central portion 38. Rams 90, 94 adjust the pivotal position of the bifurcated arms 72, 74 of the end portions 78, 80 about shafts 56, 58. Each end portion is pivotally mounted about a horizontal longitudinal axis on a bearing member pivotally mounted about a vertical axis 34 or 36 on mobile unit 12 or 14. Each unit has an hydraulic pump powered by a diesel engine and driving an hydraulic motor for the wheels 20a, 20b on tracks of the unit. Driving cab 100 is rotatably mounted about axis 108 on the central portion. As described the various motors and rams of the apparatus are powered hydraulically, but electrical, pheumatic, mechanical means or any combination thereof may be used instead.
