Abstract
1,219,065. Compacting alloy powders. SINTERMETALLWERK KREBSOGE G.m.b.H. 19 Sept., 1969 [26 Nov., 1968], No. 46336/69. Heading B5A. [Also in Division C7] Articles are formed from alloy powder mixtures consisting predominantly or wholly of metals other than iron by forming a prepressed workpiece, which is then heated to between 800 and 1100 C. and is then compacted without sintering in a press tool which has been preheated to 150 to 350 C. and is held at this temperature e.g. by cooling, during the compacting. The prepressing and subsequent compaction are preferably respectively effected a 6 t/cm.<SP>2</SP> and 8 t/cm.<SP>2</SP>, and the compacting is followed by annealing in vacuum, at four to five hours at 1250 C. Examples are given in which the article is formed from: (1) electrolytic iron powder containing 5% chromium powder, 59% nickel powder, and 26% molybdenum powder; (2) electrolytic iron powder containing 16% chromium powder, 57% nickel powder, 17% molybdenum powder, and 4% tungsten powder; (3) electrolytic iron powder containing 1% chromium powder, 65% nickel powder, and 30% molybdenum powder; (4) a mixture comprising 20% chromium powder, 79% carbonyl-nickel powder, and 1% titanium carbide powder.
