Abstract

1,217,919. Seal strips. BRITISH SISALKRAFT Ltd. 28 July, 1969 [29 July, 1968], No. 36186/68. Heading E1J. A seal strip, e.g. between a door leaf or window sash and its frame is formed 'in situ' on the frame by applying to the frame a solvent based adhesive composition having an agressive initial tack and strong final adhesion and applying to the leaf or sash a release agent, pressing the leaf or sash against the frame to flow the adhesive composition into a shape determined by the space between the leaf or sash and frame, separating the leaf or sash from the frame to allow evaporation of solvent from the adhesive composition which is formulated so as to have sufficient body in its initial condition to prevent it flowing under its own weight when spread in substantial quantity on a vertical surface and to present a not tacky final surface after evaporation of the solvent. The adhesive composition may be based on an elastomer and comprise a tackifying resin, a mineral filler and a volatile solvent for the elastomer and resin and the release agent may be an aqueous soap solution.
