Abstract

1,217,979. Sintered Co-bronze. SINTERMETALLWERK KREBSOGE G. m, b. H. Sept.22, 1969 [Nov.15, 1968], No.46595/69. Headings C7A and C7D. Sintered Co bronze e.g. bearings are made by sintering at 700‹-900‹C. for ¢-2 hours in a H 2 containing atmosphere in powder compact of elemental Co, Cu and Sn and cooling in a protective atmosphere. The compact contains by weight 25-70% Co, 67-27% Cu and 7-3% Sn with optionally 2-20% BN. The Co powder has a grain size of 60-100 microns and the powders are mixed in a ball mill prior to compaction. Cracked ammonia is the preferred sintering atmosphere. The sintered compact may be impregnated with oil.
