Abstract
1,215,521. Toners for electro-photography FUJI SHASHIN FILM K.K. Feb.1, 1968 [Feb.1, 1967], No.5293/68. Heading G2H. [Also in Divisions C2 and C4] Organovanadium compounds, which form coloured products when reacted with aromatic polyhydroxy-compounds and which may be utilized in combination with such aromatic polyhydroxycompounds as colouring components in recording materials such as heat sensitive recording papers or as toners for electro-photography, have solubilities in water of less than 8 grams per 100 grams of water at 20‹C. and are prepared by the reaction of compounds of the formula (I) wherein R 1 represents a monovalent hydrocarbon group having 6 to 21 carbon atoms or a derivative thereof, R 2 , R 3 , and R 4 , which may be the same or different, each represents a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group, and X<SP>-</SP> represents an anion, or compounds of the formula (II) wherein R 5 represents an alkyl group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, a phenyl group, a benzyl group, the group -CH 2 -COOR 6 or the group -CH 2 -NHCOR 6 , R 6 represents an alkyl group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, a halogen atom, or a hydrogen atom, and X<SP>-</SP> represents an anion, with compounds of the formula (III) wherein M represents the ammonium radical or a metal providing a mono-valentcation, a and b each represents an integer, and n represents a number from 0 to 32.
