Abstract

1,215,262. Tension device. TOKYO SHIBAURA ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. 21 Jan., 1969 [27 Jan., 1968], No. 3289/69. Heading D1D. A yam take up device having tension control means comprises a take up roller 3, a motor 4 for driving the roller to control tension in the yarn wound around the roller 3, and a speed detecting roller 9 urged against the periphery of a roll 2 of the yarn, the roller being given a torque by rotation of the roll 2 and thus detecting the speed of the yarn as it is taken up. A speed detector 10 converts the speed detected by roller 9 into electrical signals corresponding to variation of the take up speed and these signals are applied to the power source. An auxiliary motor 11 energised by the power source applies a second torque to the speed detecting roller 3, the second torque being cumulative to the first torque. A tension roller 6 is provided to tension the yarn, e.g. by driving it with motor 7 from a separate power source. As described, the speed of main motor 4 is controlled to maintain yarn tension constant.
