Abstract

A regulating valve has a hand wheel with a slot 13a through which an index plate 10 can be viewed indicating with a witness line 12 on the body the amount the valve is opened, a portion 13b to blank off indicia above the required maximum opening, and a stop 17 to co-operate with a stop 18 on the valve body to ensure that the valve cannot be opened beyond the indicated maximum. To adjust the valve setting, a screw 14 beneath a removable disc 15 is slackened, and the hand wheel is disengaged from splines 21 on the plate 10. The hand wheel is then rotated to indicate the required maximum opening.
