Abstract
1,212,501. Knitting. KLINGER MFG. CO. Ltd. 4 March, 1968 [3 Dec., 1966], No. 54250/ 66. Heading D1C. A device for forming yam into a chain of stitches comprises a hooked needle 20 moved in a closed path between and relative to two yarn guides, so that a new loop is drawn through an old loop slipping off the shank. The needle path lies in one plane and may be elliptical, circular or egg-shaped. As described the needle is reciprocated by a crank 15 mounted on a frame and is slidably supported on a pivot 18 intermediate its ends. The guides (26-7, Fig. 2 not shown) mounted on the frame, are spaced along the needle and on opposite sides thereof. Yarn is fed to one guide and the chain of stitches withdrawn through the other. Alternatively the guides may be driven by the crank relative to a stationary needle.
