Abstract

1,211,579. Strip fasteners. E. P. S. (RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT) Ltd. 17 Jan., 1969 [1 Feb., 1968], No. 5273/68. Heading E2S. A sliding clasp fastener comprises two flexible profiled strips, Figs 7a and 7e which can 'be brought into engagement with the head of the rib 13 of the strip 12 in the recess 2 of the strip 1. The recess 2 is defined by two barbed fingers 3, 4 of the strip 1 to which is connected by a neck 8 a strut 7 which can be engaged in a recess 9 to effect locking. The associated slide, Figs. 1 and 6c comprises three parts which define two channels 24, 25 which diverge towards one end of the slide, the channel 24 retaining its shape along its length but varying in size while the channel 25 varies in shape and size and includes a rib 28 so as to effect the required flexing of the fingers 3 and 4 and the strut 7. The strips may be attached to a piece of material, e.g. of a receptacle, by an adhesive or by welding.
