Abstract
1,210,085. Printing-apparatus. J. ZIMMER. 6 Dec., 1967 [12 Dec., 1966], No. 55405/67. Heading B6C. A screen printing machine adapted to print on flat articles such as a web 2 comprises an endless conveyer 1 arranged to forward the web past a plurality of printing stations at which either flat screens 26 or rotary screens (27), Fig. 2 (not shown), may be optionally located. With flat screens in position magnetic bars 7 and rollers 10 which are attracted thereto are reciprocated by an hydraulic drive 9 and a further hydraulic drive 15 causes the step-bystep movement of the conveyer which supports the web 2 with the interposition of a layer of glue applied by a member 6. The drive 15 acts through push-rods 14 and suction boxes 13 The printed web is dried in a device 12. With rotary screens in position the bars 7 are stationary and the drives 9 and 15 are inoperative. A device 16 drives the conveyer 1 continuously utilizing a drive shaft 19 and an infinitely variable transmission 31. The rotary screens may be of different diameters. In a modification, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown), the machine may be used with either flat or rotary screens, the two types of screen being separately located at different stations so that only one type is operational at any one time.
