An aeration and agitation apparatus for liquids and especially for fermentation processes has a bladed rotor 3 and a stator 1 with a central opening, an inner annular portion and an upwardly centred peripheral portion 14 with radical blades 15 (which may be curved) surrounding the rotor. Gas is supplied through jets 5.
