Abstract

1,205,772. Copolymers. STANDARD OIL CO. 30 Oct., 1967 [31 Oct., 1966], No. 49145/67. Heading C3P. [Also in Division C5] Hydrocarbon fuel oil pour point depressant concentrates comprise organic solvent solutions containing at least 10 weight per cent of a copolymer of 35 to 70 weight per cent ethylene, 1 to 5 weight per cent and 27 to 60 weight per cent of one or more C 1-12 alkyl esters of acrylic and/or methacrylic acid, said copolymer having a melt index of 0.5 to 55 gm/min. at 80‹ C. The solvent may be a hydrocarbon, particularly a hydrocarbon fuel. Many suitable acrylic and methacrylic esters are specified and many examples are given using 2-ethylhexyl and isobutyl acrylates.
