P is clamped to a sleeper T by the upper limb 1 of a U-shaped spring steel clip seated in a cylindrical recess c and is laterally located by the free edge 5 of the lower limb 2, the edge 5 having obliquely bent-down corners 5a, 5b to increase its effeotive depth and so facilitate rail positioning prior to tightening the vertical clamping bolt (not shown).
