Abstract

1,204,791. Safety helmet. L. P. FRIEDER. 18 Jan., 1968 [6 Feb., 1967], No. 2876/68. Heading A3V. A safety helmet comprises a rigid shell 21, Fig. 7, which encloses a wearer's head, having a continuous bottom edge 21d supported out of contact with the head by a rigging means which include an inelastic head band 46 anchored to either side of the helmet and size adjusting means 80 comprising pads 81, 86 attached to the headband. The pad 81 is made of resilient material and has on one side one set of elements of a hook and loop fastener which co-operate with the other set of elements on the head band or on a spacer pad 86 which has one set of elements on one side and the other set on the other side. Spacer pads 111, 112 may also be included between the shell 21 and the earcups 106, Fig. 15. The earcup is secured to the shell by an elastic band 110 connected to the earcup by fasteners 108, 109. The helemet may also include a beading element 35, Fig. 7, as claimed in Specification 1,204,792.
