Abstract

1,202,911. Respiratory measurements. MERCURY ELECTRONICS (SCOTLAND) Ltd. 27 Feb., 1968 [2 Dec., 1966], No. 54194/66. Heading A5K. [Also in Division G1] A device for monitoring human respiration comprises two moulded plastics members 10, 11 adhesively secured together to define an air duct and supporting between them a multiperforate member 16, the members 10, 11 being provided with ports 19, 20 for connecting apparatus responsive to pressure differentials to opposite sides of the member 16. The members 10, 11 are each identically formed with an annular portion 13 having a semi-circular cross-section and a flat portion 14 which forms a restriction 21 between each port and the portion 17 or 18 of the air duct. The member 16 comprises a fine wire gauze, but a gauze woven from nylon monofilament may be used. The ports 19, 20 are connected to manometric means and the restrictions 21 tend to stabilize the pressure indication.
