Abstract
1,202,881. Photo-developable photographic silver halide compositions. KODAK Ltd. Dec.15, 1967 [Dec.20, 1966], No.56869/66. Addition to 1, 096, 052. Heading G2C. A photo-developable photographic silver halide composition, at least part of the silver halide of which is silver bromide, contains cuprous iodine and an organic halogen acceptor containing a group =N-CS-N=. Halogen acceptors specified include thiourea, substituted thioureas such as allylthiourea and phenyl thiourea and heterocyclic thiones such as imidazoline-2-thione, 1-(2-hydroxyethyl) hexahydropyrlmidine-2-thione and 1-n-butyl- 1:2:5:6- tetrahydro-1:3:5-triazine-4-thiol. The halogen acceptor is preferably added to the silver halide emulsion before the cuprous iodide. The photo-developable silver halide composition may be made by precipitation of the silver halide in acid medium in the presence of thiocyanate ions, in a medium containing an organic thioether silver halide solvent or in the presence of lead ions or by precipitation in an acid medium of a silver halide more soluble than silver bromide and conversion of this silver halide in the presence of thiocyanate to silver bromide or a less soluble mixed silver halide containing silver bromide. The composition may be a gelatine-free precipitate which may be adhered to transparent adhesive tape.
