A sliding clasp fastener comprises tapes 2 having folded back edge portions 5, filamentary fastener elements of U-shaped links 6, e.g. of nylon which are stitched only to the folded portions 5, filler strips 13, e.g. braid, cord, plastics strip, and a slider having a pair of channels into each of which extends a respective one of the elements and the folded back portion of its carrier tape.
