Abstract

1,201,651. Milking parlour. C. J. REEVE. 26 April, 1968 [19 May, 1967], No. 23381/67. Heading A1M. A milking parlour comprises a rotatable platform 5 divided into stalls by divisions 8 pivoted at their inner ends. When a cow 19 has walked from the inlet ramp 3 on to platform 5 she is attracted towards a feeding trough 10 and the following division 8A is swung round to complete the stall. The continuously driven platform is preferably annular and above ground level so that an operator can work at waist level in a central opening 6. A milking cluster, Fig. 5 (not shown) is provided for each stall with a vacuum line (29) operated by valve (30) (Fig. 7, not shown) which automatically breaks the vacuum, and hence releases the cluster from the udder, when a valve handle (31) engages a fixed peg (33). The post 9 forming the division pivot is automatically raised and enabled to be swung round, when it reaches the position of 8A, by means of a roller (18), Fig. 4 (not shown), engaging a fixed cam rail (17) which is raised at (17A) to lift roller (16) out of slot (15).
