A phytotoxic composition comprises 2',6'-di Et-N-methoxymethyl-2-chloroacetanilide and a cyclohexane compound of formula wherein R is H or C 1 , to C 4 alkyl, R<SP>1</SP> is H or a cation (e.g. Na, K, Li, Rb, Cs, NH 4 or substituted ammonium), and X is halogen; the cyclohexane compound being present in from 0.1 to 10 parts by weight per part of the chloroacetanilide.
