Abstract

1,201,129. Electro static precipitators. UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS FOUNDATION. 27 March, 1968 [11 April, 1967], No. 14727/68. Heading B2J. An electro-static precipitator is provided with a set of high voltage wire electrodes 26 at a first polarity which are adjacent to a set of collector plates 28 at the opposite polarity which are mounted on a rotatable member 44, the direction of the electric field being aligned with the direction of flow of the dust laden gases which enter through an inlet 14 and leave through an outlet 18. The plates 28 are cleaned by liquid in a conduit 22 and are dried by an air current in conduit 24. In a modification the drying stage may be eliminated and a liquid film can be supplied to the plates to remove undesirable vapour components in the gas stream.
