Abstract

1,200,117. Textile treating apparatus. E. KUSTERS. 21 Nov., 1967 [1 June, 1967], No. 52817/67. Heading D1L. A method for the continuous treatment of textile webs comprises continuously feeding the web into a treatment chamber onto a support surface having at least one full turn, maintaining the material inlet at a level different from the material outlet and continuously moving the material over the support surface in such a manner that the material takes a helical passage through the treatment chamber. The support surface may be a series of concentric rails 9, 10 one end of which is at a higher level than the other, alternate rails 9 or 10 being connected to means 13, 14 for forming a lifting mechanism. The web 15 is fed onto the support surface over a roll 17 and may be overlapped a predetermined number of times before being taken out of the chamber. If desired the rail support surface may be in the form of a helix within the treatment chamber and can be either rotated, oscillated or vibrated whilst the web is moved over the surface. Seals at the entry and exit of the chamber may be provided by the nip of a pair of rolls. Also if desired the web may be fed on to the support in folds. A plurality of webs may be simultaneously treated by providing several support surfaces one above the other in a treatment chamber.
