Abstract

1299680 Releasable fastenings; hinges GEORG UTZ AG 30 Sept 1971 [2 Oct 1970] 45629/71 Headings E2A and E2F [Also in Division B8] A lid 2 is hinged to a box 1 by means of a pair of bearings 11, each bearing comprising a pair of lugs 12 and 13 integral with the lid and curving towards each other to embrace a hinge member 14 on the box, a spring 15 urging the lugs together to trap the member 14 within the lugs. The spring comprises a curved plate positioned in grooves 18, 19 in the lugs and having turned in ends 16 positioned in recesses 17. The box and lid may be made of a synthetic resin. The lid may have a locking bar 34 which can extend through a slot in a flange 3 in the box and can then be slid so that a hook-shaped end on the bar engages underneath the flange. Alternatively there may be a single resilient catch, or a pair of catch locks (20, Fig. 4 not shown) may depend from flange 10 of the lid through the flange 3 and can be held apart by a tang so that shoulders on the locks can engage beneath the flange 3.
