1299505 Catamenial napkin J L JONES SNR 2 Oct 1970 46945/70 Heading A5R A catamenial napkin comprises a first compressed multiple ply absorptive planar section 4 having an area substantially equal to the vagina vestibula, a second section 5 of similar construction having an area greater than said first section, a thin flexible fluid impermeable plastics membrane 7 equal in area to said second absorptive section, and a plurality of bonds 12, 12' securing the absorptive sections to the plastics membrane to form a coaxially centred, coplanar laminate. The absorptive sections are preferably diamond shaped and consist of either compressed tissue paper or fine pore regenerated cellulose sponge. The bonds comprise triangular, circular or square detents cut into the absorptive sections and filled with adhesive. Faces 10 and 11 of the absorbent sections are preferably covered with a non woven fibrous fabric of wood pulp, cotton linters or a mixture of these two fibrous materials.
