Abstract
1299099 Lighters FLAMINAIRE MARCEL QUERCIA 8 Sept 1970 [22 Sept 1969] 42987/70 Heading F4F A gas fuelled lighter is operated by depression of push member 11, which simultaneously causes an ignition device comprising a milled wheel 1a and a flint 9 to produce a spark, opens a gas outlet valve (not shown) to allow gas to pass from the reservoir 10 to the burner 2, and causes the cover 5 to pivot so that the port 3 opens to give burner 2 access to the outside, the reservoir, burner, push member, and ignition device constituting an ignition assembly which can be slid as a single unit on to and out of the lighter case 4 through its open end 22. The member 11 is urged outwards into a position parallel with the wall 4e by a spring 18 and is prevented from passing this position by the abutment of cover 5 against stop member 21, The member 11 pivots about 12 and the cover 5 pivots about 6. The cover 5 has wings 5c, 5d, which bear the ends of hollow axle 6a about which milled wheel 8 rotates, which is coaxial with the axis 6, and each of which has a slot 13 which engages a stud 14 attached to the push member 11. As shown in Fig. 1 the cover 5 fits flush with the wall 4c and in its open position the wings 5c, 5d mask the mill wheel 8. Ignition may be by means other than friction. for instance electrical.
