Abstract

1298769 Container closures H EGGERT and H SCHWARTZ 20 Feb 1970 [21 Feb 1969] 8253/70 Heading B8T A container closure comprises a cap 2 with an internal expandable stopper 4. The stopper has a bead 5 at the junction between two tapered sections. A centring rod 3 is provided which connects the top of the cap 2 with the base of the stopper 4. When the top of the cap is depressed, the bead 5 disengages from the container permitting removal of the cap. In a second embodiment the bead 5 on the cap engages a ridge on the container. In a third embodiment the centring rod is not connected to the base of the stopper, but passes through the base and has a waisted section, and the top of the centring rod is attached to a central section of the cover 2 which is movable with respect to the remainder of the cover. In this embodiment on depression of the cover the waisted portion of the centring rod lines up with the hole in the bottom of the stopper again permitting the cap to be removed. In another embodiment the stopper is made from a series of separate plates.
