Abstract

1297354 Panty type garment INTERNATIONAL STRETCH PRODUCTS Inc 6 Aug 1971 [3 Nov 1970] 37146/71 Heading A3V A panty-type garment comprises two identical garment sections 15 of warp knitted fabric 10 having body portions 11 of two way stretch fabric and integrally knitted one-way stretch elastic selvedges 12 and 13, the sections having cut end edges 16 and 17 each formed by an arcuate cut, terminating at an intermediate point spaced from the selvedge 13, and a straight edge 18 or 19, the garment being formed by sewing together, along seams 21 and 22, corresponding end edges 16 and 17 of the two garment sections from the selvedge 12 to the intermediate point, thus forming a waist band from the selvedge 12, and then coupling together, e.g. by sewing along seam 24, the straight edges 18 and 19 to form two leg encircling bands from the selvedge 13. A crotch piece may be inserted at seam 24 to increase the front-to-back fullness of the garment, the crotch piece being formed of two-way stretch fabric with one way stretch selvedges which form part of the leg encircling bands.
